Graphene-Based Polymer Nanocomposites
Materials science continues to occupy a central place in our lives primarily through the design and creation of new materials, and our quality of life has improved over time thanks to the discovery of new materials. Major milestones in the advancement of our society are intimately associated with materials throughout history: the stone age, bronze age, iron age, steel age (industrial revolution...
متن کاملStraightforward synthesis of conductive graphene/polymer nanocomposites from graphite oxide.
The reduction of graphite oxide (GO) in the presence of reactive poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), under mild biphasic conditions, directly affords graphene grafted with PMMA. The resulting nanocomposite shows excellent electrical conductivities resulting from the optimal dispersion and exfoliation of graphene in the polymer matrix.
متن کاملA Molecular Dynamics Study of Polymer/graphene Nanocomposites
In this work, we study three hybrid polymer/graphene interfacial systems (polystyrene/graphene, poly(methyl-methacrylate)/graphene and polyethylene/graphene) through detailed atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Density profiles, structural characteristics and mobility aspects are being examined at the molecular level for all model systems. In addition, we compare the properties of th...
متن کاملFunctionalized graphene sheets for polymer nanocomposites.
Polymer-based composites were heralded in the 1960s as a new paradigm for materials. By dispersing strong, highly stiff fibres in a polymer matrix, high-performance lightweight composites could be developed and tailored to individual applications. Today we stand at a similar threshold in the realm of polymer nanocomposites with the promise of strong, durable, multifunctional materials with low ...
متن کاملLight and redox switchable molecular components for molecular electronics.
The field of molecular and organic electronics has seen rapid progress in recent years, developing from concept and design to actual demonstration devices in which both single molecules and self-assembled monolayers are employed as light-responsive components. Research in this field has seen numerous unexpected challenges that have slowed progress and the initial promise of complex molecular-ba...
